A year of Dudley CVS staff stories!

As we approach the end of the year, we thought it would be a good time to reflect on some of the work our colleagues have been involved in over the past 12 months. Here's to a great year of great things happening across Dudley borough, and to much more for 2020!


  • Discover U - Helena visited a Stourbridge-based charity to discover what makes it so special for the people it supports
  • Making Magic Happen! - Eileen celebrated Operation Santa 2018 and thanked everyone who got involved



  • “JUST GO FOR IT” funding success Dudley Voices for Choice - Martin, Funding Officer at Dudley CVS told us more about his support, the application stages and the success achieved at the end of a long but rewarding process
  • Grace Community Church - An asset-transfer success. Dudley CVS Communications Officer Helena visited this community church to see the transformation of this once-neglected venue and the church's plans to build a vibrant community venue in Pensnett
  • Self-care: What's it all about then? - Rob, Participatory Research Officer at Healthwatch Dudley, talked us through Healthwatch Dudley research into self-care and how it might be supported



  • Dementia is not a natural part of ageing - Keeley from our Integrated Plus team visited the Alzheimer's Society's Working Age Dementia Cafe and shared how it brings together younger people who have been diagnosed with any form of dementia. The group is also open to new members
  • Healthwatch Dudley welcomes over 100 new Information Champions - Melissa from our Healthwatch Dudley team shared how over the last five years, hundreds of people from local organisations and community groups, have joined Healthwatch Dudley to network with other people in information giving roles. Find out how you can be part of the network and receive free training which will help you to signpost people to services and activities that keep people well


  • Over £11 million over 11 years! - Becky and Martin totted up the value of successful funding applications they've supported over the last 11 years. It came to a whopping £11,764,436! Learn more about the 261 groups, 113 grants programmes and the 614 successful applications (so far!) they've supported


  • Reflections on Good Finance Live - Social investment is a relatively untapped source of finance for not-for-profit organisations. Becky went to Good Finance Live to find out more about it, meet a range of social investors that could support your cause and hear from other groups that had received social investment to help them grow
  • Airtime: A friendly space to meet other people living with COPD and related conditions- Helena recently visited this group as they celebrated what they've achieved since becoming an independently run group. Find out how Airtime brings people together and improves their health and wellbeing
